Description
This large round cutting board is decorated on one side with pyro (pyrography) burning. The flip side sanded smooth to use as cutting board. It is turned with an indent to make it easy to grasp for flipping it over. There is pyro work on one whole side as well as the edges and the indentation leading up to the cutting board.
This large round cutting board is left in it’s natural color, dark sapelli wood. The burning decoration is easily seen and makes a good contrast in spite of the fact that the wood is of a dark hue.
The cutting board side of the challah board is finished with mineral oil. The cutting board side must be re-oiled periodically to keep it looking fresh. How often to re-oil? Generally, by looking at the wood you can see that is has lost it’s sheen. That will tell you that it needs a re-oiling. The process is easy. Rub the mineral oil on to the board and wipe it off with a clean lint free towel or rag. Leave to dry a few days and it is good to go.
This cutting board is a custom project at Etz-Ron. The cutting board can also be painted. You can choose the hues you like and it will be colored on one side according to your color preferences. Please contact me with your color preferences in the notes section of your order.
This cutting board already has a family. You will get one that is similar.
There is a lot of work involved in this project, lead time is 4-6 weeks. If it is to be colored, I will finish the board with multiple coats of polyurethane everywhere except the cutting surface.
Because this board is chunky, the cutting board side can also be renewed periodically by sanding it down and refinishing it. It is a cutting board that will last a lifetime if treated properly.
