Wood Barrettes

The barrettes are made from a variety of light colored hard woods such as maple, cherry, beech and more. The French barrette backing does a great job of holding thick hair. and is fastened to the back side with screws.

Hair combs and ornaments have been found in archaeological sites in Israel dating from as early as 12000 years ago, and were made from shell, bone and wood.

Fashioned from hardwoods, the Ancient Ties Series of Archaeology Barrettes are emblazoned with designs patterned after designs found on pottery shards at sites in Israel. Typical motifs were fish and birds, palm trees, ibex, and geometric patterns.

The Art Deco Series draws from the patterns of the woods themselves, using color to emphasize the design.
